I started this blog partly because Anderson Analytics was doing a lot of text mining projects, some of which involved blog data, and I wanted to learn more about blogging from the bloggers POV. I’ve learned a lot about the positive aspects of blogging already like SEO and the web traffic benefits. However, as if email spam wasn’t bad enough, now I have to contend with an additional type of spam, blog/splog spam.I’m curious to hear from other bloggers, especially Wordpress bloggers about how effective DNS blocking is. For a while I’ve been reporting spam postings using the Wordpress system. I’m not sure how effective this is though. So recently I started logging IP addresses of spammers and began DNS blocking.
Or how about key word blocking? I’ve found a few that seem to be good candidates (Mp3, Download, Music…)?
I’m wondering if anyone has found these effective ways to reduce splog? Is it a waste of time, and/or is there a danger of prohibiting valid posts to your blog from certain DNS?
