What if Market Researchers Got Tips?

January 21st, 2009 · 2 Comments

Had a discussion with my barber today, and the thought crossed my mind, what if market researchers got tips? Sure, I know, we’re professionals. Still, what better way to ensure renewed creativity. If team bonuses were structured on a project basis sure might make things even more interesting.

If a project bonus structure was set up were clients rated each project in terms of satisfaction on a 5 point scale say, analysts and others working on a project could receive a proportion of an allocated annual bonus. In a way MRA has already started the client rating system that could be used, though I doubt it’s very popular.

Interesting to think about anyway…

I was thinking about this more from the internal perspective by the way. Basically frequent team bonuses after each project. Probably great motivation. Bonuses could not be large of course. Probably no one who does this. I bet it would be effective at increasing innovation, customer service, quality etc. on each project.

Hi Tom. We’ve done just that! Providing some incentives to our staff who did exceptionally well on difficult projects. The incentives don’t need to come in the form of money. It could be something else, depending on the personal interest of the staff.
