In a discussion on the quality/comparison of various online panels yesterday someone sent me to the page below generated by a site called Survey Police. Here you see the top 19 panel/survey companies as ranked by those respondents (based on incentive distribution etc.).
I don’t think this ranking has anything to do with panel quality from the researchers point of view. In fact I was almost a bit relieved we weren’t on the list yet as it means our recruitment of Anderson Analytics‘ GenX2Z panelists is more selective/not as blatant as some of these other companies.
That said, it obviously is very useful to respondents who take surveys for money.
Not sure where this fits in the quality debate. Perhaps the site does have a semi-important role? Perhaps I should aim to get Anderson Analytics on the list? I’m really not sure. Curious to hear what others think.

Was just told by a market researcher on FB that ” Survey Police was created by GMI (globaltestmarket) for PR. I wouldn’t place much value in any of the rating”. Interesting, It looks like they are #11 on the list. Site also allows for affiliate marketing of panels.

I’m with you man. SurveyPolice is in fact a site created by a survey company. And, survey participants who feel the need to provide a ranking often don’t have a fair generalized view of the companies. I used to get a kick out of reading comments about the survey company I worked at because I knew for an absolute fact that what was being reported wasn’t true. It’s unfortunate that good survey participants place value in the list.

Hi:
This site doesn’t allow any of the panels to address the grievances or even validate their claims. We took major issue with GMI when they created it as frankly it’s just a “bitch board” for panelists (or whomever) to defame a panel they feel “wronged” by.
Really with the amount of conversation that’s gone on for over 3+ years around Online Quality, I’m stunned that GMI has left this up. Seems like they’d want to be more of the SOLUTION than stirring up more misinformation.

You are so right about this site. It is a joke and a false site that I seen right through! I feel sorry for people that get sucked into the many survey sites that take your info and then screen you out after 20 minutes and give you nothing in return! They should be shot and pissed on for doing this to people!
