In anticipation for Obama’s talk on HealthCare tonight I thought it would be interesting to see how Anderson Analytics‘ GenX2Z panelists (US College Students), view our current system.
The question I decided to ask reads as follows:
Q. Please express how you feel about the current health care system of the US using the scale below? (5 pt. scale) 5= We have the best health care, why change it” to 1= The current system is broken and in need of some radical changes”
The Survey which just launched is still in field, however as of this posting we already had n=179 completes (Confidence Interval +/- 7.32% at the 95% Confidence Level). We should have over 1000 responses by the end of the week.
Only 5% of College students agreed that The US has “the best health care, why change it”, while 30% felt “The current system is broken and in need of some radical changes” (distribution in cart above).
If our generation can’t get this thing sorted, hopefully they can!

President Obama is if not outright lying is certainly parsing words. His past voting record and that of his constituency are diametrically opposed to everything he is promising the American Public. His desire to change a system that needs correction is admirable but the present “vague” plan attempted to be forced upon us is foolhardy if we let them get away with it and there will be no turning back.

To really get the picture an additional same question should have been asked in relation to Obama´s health care plan/proposal. You can feel that we do not have the best healthcare system and the same also feel Obama´s plan is not the best one we hould be considering

I think we can all agree that the plan put forth by Obama is not ideal. However, I do not think that is neccesarily his fault. The insurance and medical communities have huge pockets and influence in Washington, which makes it impossible for a truly revolutionary plan to make it through congress. Even the best health care reforms get distorted from the point of conception that they are no longer recognizable. That is why other politicians can criticize his plan but not set forth a plan of their own. There is no easy solution to the healthcare debate as it is one of the more complex issues of our time. The only option I see is for individuals to take a greater steak in their own health (i.e. exercise, eat better, get more sleep, and find healthy ways to relieve stress). If we all did that you would be surprised by the effect it had on healthcare costs. Of course you cant legislate behavior but i think the key to lowering costs is preventing illness.
