Today a quick update for the Next Gen Market Research (NGMR) group members who read the blog. We now have a location outside of LinkedIn at http://www.nextgenmr.com.

As you may already know The Next Gen Market Research Group (NGMR) is an invitation only networking group for MR professionals with 7+ years of experience who are interested in more than traditional market research.

I founded the group September 27, 2007 because I felt that while the market had changed, and the customers had changed, consumer insights were still the same. Marketing Research/Consumer Insights have actually changed very little since the mid 90’s and still offer mainly 1.0 Insights. The NGMR group has been key in allowing like minded professionals to share information on new techniques from data and text mining to social media research.

We now have over 6,500 members. Because of the stricter moderation in the group, several NGMR members have told me that this is the one MR group they actually like visiting. With this many experienced professionals in one place, anyone posting an industry specific question can expect several well thought out replies in a few hours.

I’ve enjoyed managing the group on LinkedIn, and have now extended it to www.NextGenMR.com to allow for even greater sense of community. We’re considering this a beta test for now and rules will be added as necessary.

I will be posting an updated list of all NGMR members who blog and who Tweet to the site shortly. In January research conducted among the group will be posted on the site as well.
