Research Radio Launches Tomorrow!

During the past two weeks one of the most popular discussion threads within the Next Gen Market Research (NGMR) group on LinkedIn was entitled “TV Show About Market Research?“. NGMR members were discussing what a television show about marketing research might look like. Would it be a sitcom, a reality show, a drama? Indeed while there are TV shows featuring policemen, fire fighers, lawyers and doctors and recently on HBO the successful Mad Men about advertising executives, market researchers have gotten little attention.

We may have to wait a while to see a good TV show about market research. In the meantime, Jon Leiman of the MRB may be taking us one step closer with his launch of Research Radio tomorrow.

While there are various blogs and other websites dedicated to market research, this will be the first in my knowledge to really leverage audio and video. Podcasts from the American Marketing Association (AMA), an audio series called Breakthroughs from QRCA, 3 Minute News video updates from AdAge are but a few of the items we can expect.

Jon is planning several regular sections/segments on the site such as: MRB News Room, Meet the Boss, Methods & Madness, Business is Greener, and Spotlight.

Jon asked me to participate in a couple of segments via webcam which will air over the coming weeks, including the one for Methods & Madness above. While I might be a little dry, it’s well worth watching till the end to see Jon dancing. It’s great to see more humor in market research as well ;)

Wishing Jon and Research Radio the best of luck. Audio and especially video are bound to become much more important on the web this coming year, and I think it’s great that Jon is leveraging it for market research.
