New Global Advisory Board (Moderators) and SIG Subgroups on NGMR!
If you’re a member of the Next Gen Market Research group on LinkedIn you may already have noticed a few new sub-groups. A few of the more active NGMR members whose opinions I deeply respect have offered to join me in moderating the group as it has grown beyond my expectations (currently over 9,300 market researchers) and continues to be the most active online MR community.
The new advisory board consists of six new moderators which represent the geographic regions with the highest membership and growth in NGMR outside the USA. Therefore, while their main role will be in helping to promote responsible Next Gen Market Research and managing NGMR overall, in addition they will each also moderate their own local NGMR Sub Group, a few may also take on a Specialty Interest sub-Group (SIG).

Gordon Morris, Global Insights Manager at Sony Ericsson, and Foundation for Transparency in Offshoring (FTO) Advisory Board Member, will now help manage the UK subgroup on NGMR, as well as the new NGMR Fortune 1000 SIG. (The latter is a client only group).
Mike Gadd, President of Gadd Research, and active ESOMAR and MRIA member, will manage the new NGMR Canada SIG.

Duncan Stuart, Director of Kudos Organizational Dynamics, will manage the Trans-Tasman SIG (Australia & New Zealand), thus representing an area which recently has been the fastest growing geographic region proportionate to its size.

Jasper Lim, Director of Merlien Institute, will manage the East and South East Asia SIG as well as a SIG on Qualitative Research.

Last but not least, Jan Fager Managing Director at Swedish Marketing Federation, and Board Member at European Marketing Confederation (EMC), will assist me in managing the Scandinavia SIG.
These SIG’s are experimental (Beta). But some of the early local NGMR SIGS, such as UK and ChicagoLand, have been a good way for NGMR members to easily find and meet up with like minded researchers for a beer or coffee locally. For instance, The Fairfield County CT SIG which I moderate together with Jack Campisi (QualVu), Mike Carlon (MarketVision), and Rob Petersen (Barn Raisers) are currently planning such a get together at a bar here in Stamford CT. Even though Stamford and the surrounding area (Fairfield County) has a very large market research population, because we are located between NYC and Boston, it’s typically an area overlooked by the AMA, MRA etc. The NGMR SIG will hopefully help fill that gap.
Please join me in welcoming the new moderators. I know I look forward in getting a little help with the group.
In case you’re not already familiar with the new NGMR Team from their frequent and thoughtful participation on the NGMR discussion, I will be posting their answers to a few market research related questions over the next few weeks here on the blog.
I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank all NGMR members for your continued interest in discussing Next Gen Market Research related issues and for helping to build such a powerful network of professional researchers. Thank You!

[In the true spirit of social media participation in the NGMR group is completely free while also void of advertising. It is one of the few market research communities where open sharing and healthy debate among market research professionals is encouraged. To find out more see: About NGMR. Thanks Dan, Could definitely use some additional help with UK SIG.
RE Fairfield County CT SIG meet-up, hopefully it won’t be just me and Jack (though that would be fine by me also) LOL
Mike Carlon and Rob Peterson are also helping to moderate and organize that meet-up.

Forgot to mention the CEO group SIG as well. I think that could be a small but interesting group, and a way of starting a more specific MasterMind groups as discussed in the previous post here:
