Spotify via @Klout
Many of you probably have heard of @Klout, the online tool that measures social media influence. As an “@Klout Ambassador” with a fairly good Klout score I’ve started getting a lot of special Perks from them. These include early screening of new TV shows, restaurants and promotional schwag via mail in hopes that I might like some of these items and share them via my network or blog.
I’m typically rather careful about what I share, and though this isn’t related to marketing research I’m posting anyway because I know so many are interested in the upcoming launch of Spotify in the US.
For those interested in getting immediate access rather than wait listing yourself to be added to their beta you can do so via my special invite link HERE. Note it does require that you also sign up to @Klout if you have not already done so.
Spotify is of course a really cool free music site that’s been live in Europe for quite some time.
I’m not completely sure, but it looks like the invite above may be limited to the first 5 or so of my connections who join. Please let me know if that’s the case and you are not able to join.
One more thing. I’ve been trying to understand how the K+ works on @Klout. If you want to give me a K+ I’m happy to return the favor. Basically I’m curious to see what if anything it will do to increase the overall Klout score.

Apparently, one doesn’t have to be all that influential to get the Spotify invitation - they offered it to me, and I’m a heck of a lot less influential than you.
I gave you K+ for market research. Don’t reciprocate! I want to see what the thing does naturally.

Nice, Spotify is pretty awesome isn’t it?
Glad they gave us the promotion via Klout. I had signed up on the Spotify site a few days ago and was just put on a waiting list. But this got me right in, plus they’re giving me a free premium Spotify account.

Tom,
It will be interesting to see what happens in the experiment.
Recently, Klout co-founder Joe Fernandez commented on Mark W Schaefer’s blog that “While it (+K) is not changing the score yet it is having an impact on what topics we believe a person is influential on. It should also be noted that the topic analysis is a big part of how we figure out who gets Klout Perks.”
So maybe the score won’t change, but expect more stuff.
Don
Note: If you don’t know Mark, I highly recommend him. Knowledgeable with good, actionable insights.

Thanks Don.
Have been wondering about the topics as well. I’m guessing it’s some basic text search from your tweets. Not sure for instance why “Text Analytics” is not an expert topic for myself or anyone else I know in the business.

Tom,
Many have the same question about their topic selections. I understand Joe is pretty accessible. Could be a good interview or collaboration opportunity for you.
